Combining her love for everything vintage with the desire to offer

a creative environment for women, Cathy Mogull founded Summerland Mercantile in 2010.

She has been designing and creating for nearly thirty years.

Cathy is the former Director of Retail Operations and

Merchandising for Shabby Chic, and has run her own design

firm, managing home remodel and design projects in Los

Angeles, Santa Barbara and New York. She is also an

accomplished photographer, having shot images for several

of Rachel Ashwell’s books.

Six years ago Cathy and her husband, television producer Jimmy

Simons, moved from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. They

painstakingly renovated their spanish hacienda “Casa Serena”,

creating a spectacular home brimming with their collections of

pottery and art.

After searching for the perfect location for a creative space,

Cathy found there was no better location than her own home.

She transformed an underused garage bay into an enchanting

atelier, where she operates a vintage emporium, refurbishes her

finds, creates original treasures and hosts open air markets and

creative crafting workshops.
