A minister from a ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suggested that the government may put up an “Eggplant Glass” for PM Narendra Modi.
“The government needs a glass for PM’s ceremonial use.
This glass is very useful to him.
We have a lot of work to do,” said BSP minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in an interview to The Hindu.
“A glass with a red-brown colour is a very useful tool for PM.
He needs to get it with a nice golden hue.
I hope that this glass will help him get through his time in the White House,” he said.
The glass is the first of its kind for Modi.
It comes with a saffron-colored rim, an eggplant and a golden hue similar to the hue of the Prime Minister’s turban.
The Minister for Tourism and Culture had earlier in the day tweeted that “Egels are not for PMs ceremonial use”.
The Minister also shared an image of the glass on Instagram, writing that it is “for the Prime Ministers ceremonial use only”.
According to the minister, the glass will be given to Modi to be placed in his office for the PM to use for ceremonial purposes.
“For the first time, a glass has been given to the Prime Minster to use in his ceremonial use,” the minister said.
Modi is known for his use of ceremonial gifts, including a glass, to get around security restrictions on his home and offices.
He is also known to have used his ceremonial glass for meetings with leaders.
