A local winery has opened up for wine lovers at the end of the month.
The Wines Of Earls will offer wines from the St. Louis area, including St. Clair, St. Charles, and the western suburbs.
Wine Country will be a wine-centric event.
The event will be hosted by Wine Country owner/producer, Earl Stevens.
He will be taking his wine to the community with a variety of wines from St. Claire, St Charles, St Clair, and St. Croix counties.
“We wanted to put something together for the community and we think it will be very interesting,” said Earl Steyns, founder and director of Wine Country.
“It will be an interesting blend of wines, as well as some really cool things.
It will be really interesting for people to sample.”
The Wines For Earls, which is also known as Wines for Families, will be held at the Stable Inn on North Broadway, in the city’s Old Town area.
It is being hosted by local winemaker, Peter Korte, and will feature a selection of St. Cloud, St Croix, St Louis, St Claire, and some others.
The Stable will also host the Wine For Kids Wine Festival this fall.
Korte will be bringing in some of his own grapes for the event, which will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday.
He said the Wills for Earls event will include wine from St Louis as well.
The wines will be made by Wines Country, but will also be from St Crois.
The idea is to showcase the St Croices wines.
“I think this is an opportunity for everyone to taste St. Clarence, St Mary, St Clare, and I think this will be something really special for all of us,” Kortes said.
“I think the St Louis market is really big and growing.
It’s not just for St. Mary, but St. Clare and St Clair counties.
It’ll be a great way to showcase all of the Sts.”
Kortes, who has a son in the Steles military, said the idea for the Wishes For Earld event came after hearing about the Stokes County wine program.
He wants to bring the Stalons wine program into the Wames.
Kirsten Smith, a wine enthusiast who lives in St. Francis, said she was a big fan of the Wilsons program.
“They’re really great about making a variety, but they’re really nice and helpful.
I love that, I think it’s great,” she said.
Kellie Miller, who lives near St. Roseville and is a wine fan, said this is a good event for her.
“The event is really great, it’s just a great opportunity for people who love to taste different wines, to try a different type of wine,” she added.
The organizers have set up a list of wines to sample.
The first of which is the St Clair County-based Gourmet Winery, which includes Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Merlot Sauv.
The Wishes for Earld is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Saint Croix County Courthouse in St Croi.
The second event is scheduled for 10 a.m., Oct. 4 at the Old Town Tavern in St Louis.
